Anton Bruckner »Te Deum« |
4 |
The Concert Hall, Blagrave Street, Reading RG1 1QH, England |
In the context of a concert tour to England the Johanneskantorei
together with its partner choir the Reading Festival Chorus will
perform these two magnificent works by Bruckner and Verdi in a
concert to open the »Reading Summer Proms«. Bruckner described his Te Deum as the pride of his life. »When God calls me to Him and asks 'What have you done with the talents I gave you?', then I will hand him the roll of sheet music on which my Te Deum is written, and He will be a merciful judge.« Bruckner was unable to finish the final movement of his ninth symphony. Shortly before his death, he is supposed to have designated the Te Deum to be played in its place. Julia Miller, soprano Heather Cairncross, alto Robin Green, Tenor Mark Beesley, bass Johanneskantorei Düsseldorf Reading Festival Chorus Reading Symphony Orchestra Janet Lincé, conductor Tickets see concert-diary.com |

Very Bruckner |
17 |
Johanneskirche |
»To God the Beloved,« Anton Bruckner dedicated his ninth symphony.
While this is not handed down from his own hand, but certainly credible,
given his deep piety and humble love of our Heavenly Father.
The completion of this, his last symphony, was not granted to him anymore.
The fourth movement remained unfinished, and so Bruckner decreed shortly
before his death, to play his »Te Deum,«, which he described as the
»pride of his life«, after the third movement of the Ninth Symphony.
The late-romantic tone monument is brought to performance
in conjunction with the »altstadtherbst kulturfestival«,
the annual Düsseldorf autumn cultural festival.
